Best Bird Hunting Stocking Stuffer

Time’s running thin for Christmas, but I wanted to get this out sooner rather than later just in case!

The Gerber Leatherman Raptor makes an awesome stocking stuffer.

Look, sometimes there’s a product that you use and love and just have to evangelize it’s use. My dad got me one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago and I use it on every bird hunt I go on. It’s an EMT tool for cutting all manner of bandages, seatbelts, and clothing but it folds into a handy package and has a molded hard plastic case. The Gerber Leatherman Raptor isn’t cheap at about $70 MSRP but hear me out, one snip through the skin of a bird and you’re peeling skin, one snip to each of the legs and head and you’ve dealt with those, one each to the wing at the appropriate joint and they’re taken care of. I can gut a bird in less than 10 uses of the shears and I’ve done perhaps 30 birds without the blades dulling so far. Cut at the abdomen just below the breastbone where there’s some slack in the skin and you’ve got the bird gutted, I can take care of a bird in less than two minutes. It’s durable, cleans easy with soap and water and takes up just a little bit of space in your pack or truck.

Two buttons, one on either side serve as releases to allow the handle portion of each leg of the scissor to fold onto itself and from there you slide it back into it’s molded plastic case, but not before washing and drying it! Oh, and one more thing — the tool is made right here in the USA.
