I order a lot of stuff from Amazon, yeah, I’m one of those whipper-snapping millennials. It’s not that I hate human interaction or small businesses, in fact I like both quite a bit, but there are some things that I just don’t feel the need to go running around to ten stores to be able to get and I can generally find stuff at a lower price by deal shopping.
All that said my wife and I will sometimes make close to 30 or more orders from Amazon.com be it for books or for protein powder or the odd 10K Generac Generator when all the local stores in MD were sold out preempting hurricane Sandy. But did you know that if you use smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com you can donate 0.5% of your purchase to the charity of your choice? That’s money from other people’s pockets going to a charity of your choice. Think of it like Round Up for Conservation but using Amazon’s pennies to do so! There’s no price difference to you, and if you make the website a favorite or install the Amazon toolbar or a Chrome plugin like Smile Always you can automatically be redirected.
We’ve raised some money for Ruffed Grouse Society by using smile in our house, it’s a website we’d be using anyway so we may as well generate some funds for our favorite critters. There’s a ton of other charities listed as well, so why don’t you take a look?
